Kelebek Hotel or Lizo Hotel - Comments please
« on: June 04, 2012, 11:33:51 AM »
Hi All,
Looking for some help please. For the past three years my hubby and I have stayed at the Samira Apts in town.  We have left our booking a little late this year and it is now fully booked.  We have found two bargin holidays one is for the Lizo Hotel and the other being the Kelebek.  We have looked at both hotels on Tripadvisor and they both seem to have pretty good reviews, but we are struggling to decide which one to book.  Please could anyone give any thoughts as we don't have idea on location of either hotel.  We would prefer one which is nearer to the town.  The Samira has lovely bar & pool area, and am a little worried that these two perhaps won't be as nice.

Help please... Most importantly though, we will be coming back to lovely Kalkan!!!!  ::)  Greatful for any feedback.

If you want to stay nearer town - then it is the Kelebek - the Lizo is on the way to Kalamar along the Kalamar road.

Someone on the forum stayed at the Kelebek quite recently, might be Also, the Thomson brochure does the Kelebek.  We met some people who stayed at Lizo last year and they sid it was lovely, but it is further away from town.. I believe the Kelebek is quite high up though.  Wherever you sty you'll have a great time I'm sure!  8) 8)

Thank you for your replies Felicity and Skunk, could you tell us exactly where the Kelebek is? Is it somewhere behind the Samira?  Would the Lizo be too far to walk back to late in the evening.  How far along the Kalamar Rd is it?  Sorry for all the questions :-\

If you go the KTLN website and get the interactive map, you can see where all the hotels are.  www.kalkanturkishlocalnews.com  :) :) :)

Hi Sarahsh

The Lizo Hotel is an relatively flat easy ten minute walk to the town.  ;)

We have stayed at both the Lizo and the Kelebek,
As suggested in the other posts you won't be disappointed with either, I would say we were looked after just as well at each hotel. Although the Lizo is 10 minutes walk further away from Kalkan the road back up to the Kelebek is rather steep, also the Lizo is nearer to the restaurants on Kalamar road and very close to Cafe Vita.

The Kelebek is at the end of the Thursday Market - near the D400 (Kas Road).
I wouldn't say there's an awful lot in it in terms of how long it would take you to get into town - coming back might take longer to the Kelebek if you are walking, but it has the added advantage of helping you burn off the calories ;D ;D
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

If you haven't already booked, I would say the Kelebek is the one to go for. They have updated all of their rooms and facilities over the past 2 winters.
There - over there, there are.            To - Going to
Their - belongs to them.                     Too - In addition, Also
They're - Short for they are.

Pedant! me?

Although both have bars, neither is anywhere near as spacious or as lively as the Samira but you will pass the Samira on your way home to either so could still pop in there for a night cap!

I think the Kelebek is nearer to town than the Lizo.  There is a road behind the Samira which we used to walk up when we stayed at the Kelebek apartments and this was much quicker than walking up the main road.  The apartments are only a couple of minutes walk from the Samira and The Kelebek hotel is another few minutes uphill again but definitely walkable for adults of average fitness.

We have a villa just past the Lizo and the walk is a nice easy stroll back of around 10 minutes. I think the Lizo is probably an easier walk back and they do lovely food. Haven't stayed there but the views from the dining terrace are great and the owners Sarah and Ali are lovely.

Hi everyone.  Thank you all for taking your time to reply.

We decided against staying in a hotel in the end, as we usually stay in an apt. when we are at the Samira. We have managed to find an apartment through Owners Direct not far from the Meldi Hotel.  Booked our flights with Jet2 and arranged transer with exclusive escapes.  Going on 7th Sept. so we are on countdown.

JenJen - I think we met last September, we met your friends who were staying at the Samira.  If you remember us, our paths crossed in the Fez Restauraunt.  Might we see you again this year?

Bye for now  :)
