Cheer up!

Seems like we've been experiencing a lot of negative comments on this forum in recent weeks. Water cuts, burglaries, poisoned dogs, villa owners condoning poisoning dogs  Maybe the site should be renamed "Enjoyed Kalkan" or, as mentioned elsewhere, "Destroy Kalkan". Let's be honest, this is no Shangri La - like many places in the world Kalkan has it s good and bad points, bad people (a minority) and good people.

But, for repeat visitors let's not forget why we keep returning year on year - beauitiful scenery, good food, brilliant climate, and above all, some of the most hospitable hosts you could wish to meet. So let's not let a minority stain it for the rest of us, and put things into perspective: Kalkan retains its charm despite all of this, and there are far far worse places in the world to spend your time.

Love Kalkan

Its a beautiful morning in Kalkan (as usual) the sun is shining and the sea looks so inviting.People are wandering around the harbour and the old town,some families are settled on the beach.Others have found a spot at their favourite cafe for morning coffee.A quiet time or a chance to meet old and new friends.A few dogs and cats are snoozing.Theres plenty of water flowing from the taps and not a sound of roadworks anywhere.Only sound I can hear is a little boat coming out of the harbour.There are a few red,white and blue balloons gently blowing in a slight breeze.A little bit of paradise I would say!!!

Don't go on about the beautiful weather. Here in London it is wet, cold and miserable. Had a street party last night but at 11 had to close it down due to the weather.Even then there was people dancing!!!

Still 3 weeks tomorow we will be out there in Kalkan.

Here, here Popps
Just got back from another memorable visit to Kalkan. We have no complaints about this special place that never disappoints. Saying that, 7TL for an Efes at Moonlight is getting a bit steep, but the people , the food and the weather were as good as ever.
It was also good to see the friendly dogs strolling through the old town, which I think adds to it's charm, despite the recent atrocities that have taken place.
If you have not been to Sade for a meal, go, it's a must. The best fillet steak ever. Can't wait to return in September.
