Football Saturday 19th May
« on: May 15, 2012, 07:34:55 AM »
Hi

I think there is some big football match on Saturday 19th May just as we are about to arrive in Kalkan.  Personally I'm not a big fan of the game but i will be slightly outnumbered by 6-1 so no competition really.  But to help my friends enjoy the match (I will be the one with the Kindle) can anyone, please, advise me as to where the best places to watch it will be I would not like to be running round Kalkan like a headless chicken trying to find where its showing.

Many Thanks

Janie X

It will be on most places in the village - Yali, Moonlight etc all have big screen tv's for sport. As its the Champions League final, I suspect most places will have it on. The Swan pub has indoor screens in case its too cool to sit outside.
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

Oh poor you football on your 1st night boo hoo. I am personally so pleased the football season is over my OH is an avid Manchester City fan so the last few weeks he has been a nightmare to live with and as for Sunday I can't even tell you apart from having to apologise to my neighbours. No doubt you will find a good spot to watch and hope if yr Chelsea fans they win.

Yali is always a good place to watch the big matches, but we were all given watered down beer there when we watched the City and Man U games on Sunday, and Angora is 40tl a bottle!
For good value, decent food and and nice surroundings I would recommend Parc Kalkan next to Kartin supermarket or Yesil Ev opposite Can Can market on Kalamar Road.

I would like to think all British citizens would be wanting Chelsea to win...not just Chelsea fans ::)
I've heard so many Manchester (both City and United) saying they'll be supporting Bayern on Saturday...really? A German team over a British team (I know the nationalities of the players is in quesion here, but its a side essentially playing in the British league)
I don't like the Chelsea team after they beat us in the FA Cup or their fans after their disgraceful disrespect of the minute silence for Hillsborough at the semi final against Spurs, but I would always back a British team in Europe....even with watered down beer :) :-*
Cinbar used to be a great place to watch footie, not sure if the new Yali Lounge has kept the tv?
BTW Chrissy, football isn't over - once every two years it carries on through June and then pre-season training/matches in July, new season mid August...no real break to speak of..Love it!

My reason for supporting Bayern on Saturday is to make sure that Spurs reach the Champions League.  That and the fact that I despise a goodly number of the Chelsea players (mainly the English ones) and the low life they are and stand for, as well as what their money has bought them (referees' assistants at Wembley come to mind).  I also had a German great grandfather and a friend who drives a BMW and I like sausages, sound organisation and languages with no exceptions to their rules.  Did I mention that I think John Terry is a c...........?

ah good point Eniste, I forgot about the 4th place scenario (4th place became unimportant back in November last year for me ::)) If I was a Spurs fan I would not want Chelsea to win either. BTW you left the FA and Judicial System out of your list of people who have been bought by them ;)

Confusing - not sure if anyone has ever agreed with me before on EK!...

K4E - I left those 'organisations' out to avoid controversy.  Can I mention again that I think John Terry is a c........

Looking forward to seeing the England squad later that will flatter to deceive.  Only one of my Spurs lads even close to selection.  Perhaps Harry is keeping them 'injured' as revenge on the FA!

Much moore importantly, on Saturday plucky little Blackpool will be at Wembley playing a bunch of overpaid underachievers for a place in the Premier league.

Eniste, if Chelsea do win surely watching Terry miss out on probably his last chance of winning the Champions League would soften the blow, especially as he is not playing because he is a c....................
