Do you have a handbook? Silly question on the face of it, but look at it if you do and ensure that your particular model is capable. Some cheaper/older units will not do it.
There - over there, there are.            To - Going to
Their - belongs to them.                     Too - In addition, Also
They're - Short for they are.

On our Arcelik a/c's you have to flip down the flap on the hand control. This enables you to toggle from the frost icon (like  a snow flake) to the sun icon. You are then able to move the temp control up to max 30 deg. It is not instant - the outside unit has to set itself up for heat mode.

Thanks for your answers. Not got the handbook but will try them on the snowflake mode. We have had them blowing warm a few years ago but can't remember how we did it and it's cold when it goes dark!!!

You need to set it on the sun (heat) mode not the snowflake (cold) mode. I think I'm correct in saying this?

Thanks for your input on this.  It was indeed the sun symbol, not the snowflake and you did have to wait a few minutes before the unit came on and produced warm air.

Have to say they didn't get the temperature in the room upto anything like the 30 degrees that they were supposed to, but they did make it warmer and after a few days of being 'lived in' the apartment was generally warmer anyway.

Update on the air con issue. In addition to the helpful EK members, we also downloaded a Beko user manual via hubbys mobile phone which also helped... Got the bill yesterday for said mobile phone and the cost for the download was £205! We could have wifi internet access in Kalkan for a year for that.

That's a lesson learnt.

....in my currency that would be a fair few handbags, Kay :)
We never use our phones for the internet after our daughter's horrendous £600 blackberry bill back in 2009...think I posted on here.
That said, we were sitting on the beach sometime after that and I had one of those "some news about your ticket...." emails from the National Lottery. Convinced it was the big one and we wouldn't need to travel home quite so soon, BH looked up our account on his phone using the internet - needless to say the £10 win didn't cover the phone charges :P :'(
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

:o :o yikes. I always turn off the internet roaming facility before arriving in Kalkan and use free wi fi where available.  The profit these companies must make is incredible!
