walking from Samira Delux into Kalkan old town
« on: May 20, 2011, 08:18:09 PM »
Hi
We are returning for our 4th visit to Kalkan in July and wondered if anyone can tell me how easy is it now to cross the new road (is it D400?)
I know Samira's mini bus goes down to near Omar's but we have generally walked back after a few stops on the way!!!
Is the new road busy? from the bus station is it possible to walk along this road?
Any advice would be VERY welcome.
Thanks

Hi Justjenny, At present only one side of the D400 is being used, so it's not too bad in crossing. I come up from the bus station and it's no problem at all. You do have to watch for the odd vehicle using the closed side though.
Hope this helps
Have a great holiday

If you don't fancy walking along the D400 you can walk from the Samira down to the junction and cross on a pedestrian crossing at the traffic lights. It only takes 2-3 mins longer (I timed it) and is a less steep walk back.

I didn't find the road too much of a problem to cross. But it is fairly easy to go to the crossing too.
When in july are you going?? Cos i'm going back at the end of july and we like to frequent the samira delux for drinks!!! ;D

We walk down the D400 and cross it at the bottom in the dip. You can then walk down towards ADDA supermarket and down the stairs opposite. This brings you out just after the Moonlight bar. The D400 is not bust at the minute.
