Luca
« on: May 19, 2011, 05:58:43 PM »
Has anyone tried Luca since it moved near to the harbour. It used to be one of our favourite restaurants but was being done up when we were there in April. I was wondering if the menu had changed ?

Mehmet and Alev have kept the same staff and Alev still cooks superb food. Only difference is a wonderful location with great views of the Bay. After suffering from "the new road" for so long I really hope they are successful with the new restaurant

Went to Luca up the hill a couple times, good food, great atmosphere and good service.  Location was always an issue however.   Sounds like they move closer in.  Where exactly are they?

Is the menu traditional Turkish?

I had a meal there on my recent visit. We were the only ones there and the food was quite cold and the mash potato a bit strange like a 2mm splodge across the plate(hard to describe!). However, after mentioning it, the owner couldn't do enough to try to please. We had free desserts and coffee. We would probably try again on this basis and because the setting is so nice. But they really need to get it right first time as first impressions are everything.

They have moved next to Korsan Fish Terrace (same street as Doy Doy, towards Town Beach).

I have been told many times about the great food at Luca, but always thought the location looked a little unappealing.  The new place is nestled into the Old Town, above the water, quiet, beautiful plants everywhere and jasmine scent.

Alev has done a fantastic job of making this a warm and comfortable place, lighting is perfect and of course the FOOD!!!  My Mum and I think that this is the best Acili Ezme we have tasted, her Hummus is wonderful, the Sauteed Liver perfectly balanced there is one Sea Bass dish, grilled and served on skewers that will blow your mind, we were all full, but still fighting over the last piece.

The staff are also lovely people, attentive and chatty if you wish but also discreet and unobtrusive.

The whole place has a wonderfully laid-back atmosphere with TOP QUALITY FOOD!

This is definitely on our list of favourites.  Afiyet Olsun (Bon Appetit)!!
