Happy holidays?
« on: May 08, 2011, 08:41:48 AM »
Well, the jack-hammering/rock-breaking started just before 8.00 am this morning (Sunday) and KTLN warns us that the water will go off tonight until Thursday - can't move in our house now without tripping over buckets of water laid in in preparation - and, as I type, there is a group of dogs racing past the house barking and snarling!

On the plus side: weather is lovely - bright blue, clear, sky, brilliant sunshine but not too hot yet, and nice and chilly at nights, so no need for aircon in bedrooms. Most restaurants now open and extensive sampling of wines (me) and Efes (OH) indicates that quality has been maintained this year.

Hi Mags - how chilly is it at night at the moment please?  I have some friends due to visit Kalkan for the first time on the 16th and am not sure how warm clothing needs to be for evenings at this time of year.  Perhaps that's going to be the least of their worries...  ???

We're here at the moment Reygirl you need a jumper or a cardi at night As it goes cool in the evenings. During the day it's lovely not too warm that you can't get out and about but warm enough to sunbath. Pool's are cool to get into but ok once you're in....
Hope that helps
Hope your friends enjoy their time here......

Yep: I agree with Tiamaria: you definitely need a cardi (thick one) or double pashmina for the evenings at the moment, especially on the rooftop terrace restaurants. But, this may well change in the next few days and by 16th, as it seems to us to be chillier in the evenings/night this year than it has in previous years.

As I said, though, the days are lovely so far as I'm concerned, because I don't cope with heat very well.

Thanks Mags and Tiamaria - both very helpful, especially to know that temperatures are possibly not typical this year.
