Is an awning possible?
« on: March 06, 2011, 06:32:42 PM »
Is it possible to have an awning made and fitted to give some shade to our terrace?  Does anyone have any idea how much it is likely to cost?  :D

Currently have a duplex apartment in Kiziltas which we visit as often as we can.

I believe there is a company in Fethiye which specialise in awnings, although you could have something made using sail cloth which would probably be cheaper, we were told about £500 for one similar to that which the local businesses have using the company in Fethiye, we have not had it done yet, we just bought a bigger umbrella instead.

WE had an awning built/made about 18 months ago.  We used a local iron works guy (from Yesilkoy) to make a frame with parrallel bars above and then threaded strips of cloth about  2 feet wide over and under the metal bars giving a 'woven effect'  The metal work cost 300 lira though we had some of the metal bars from railings we took down so I guess it might have cost 500 lira otherwise.  The fabric cost 150 lira but we made the mistake of not having is shrunk before it was made, it was made in Kalkan.  The awning is about 2 m x 4.5m.
