Greetings to all who enjoy Kalkan,

I first came to Kalkan in 1998 and eventually bought a house in 2004. Unable to actually live in Kalkan but always looking forward to the next visit. Seeing the bay appear never fails to thrill.

First arrived late evening when it was dark and I will never forget that first sight of the bay next morning, seen through a frame of bougainvillea from the rooftop breakfast area of the hotel. Loved Kalkan ever since.

I have been looking at the postings on Enjoy Kalkan for a long time now but only just registered. Over the time I have been captivated by Antler's descriptions of his visits to Kalkan, enjoyed the banter between members, loved the great photos on the gallery. Also been glad to hear others experiences of restaurants - the standards are so high in Kalkan and with so many to choose from it is difficult. Generally arrive with a list of "must go to" and then get side tracked by somewhere different.

Good to hear people's experiences of the various trips although once we are there in Kalkan we don't really want to do anything else but "be there".

So many names have become familiar on this site - blue lizard, Kevincat99, JoanH, Antler, Begonvil, Wendy, howmad, isis, lorilou, maryjane, to mention just a few. I feel rather awed that my own name will now appear on the Enjoy Kalkan site!

Thank you blue lizard and misty for your welcome. At least my head is now out of my shell if I have made my first posting! For others I am a ten minute walk to town but remember I have very short legs and unlike you, blue lizard, cannot move so fast. However I can enjoy the view on the way.

ooooooooohhhhhhhhh don't you just yearn for Kalkan? I know I do and counting the days til that first view of the bay. Doesn't matter the time of day or night, I just know when I've seen that I've come home

A magical place that haunts your soul and keeps calling you back year after year.

Just to say thank you to all who have welcomed me to this forum. I feel properly aboard now and look forward to joining in - may have to be dragged away from my computer as my addiction to this site as well as Kalkan grows.

I enjoyed that, blue lizard. It is what I like about EK forum. Members produce helpful information such as the recent thread on shipping furniture but also someone (very often you, blue lizard) will come up with a quip to make me smile.

Hey Dr Martins now do flip flops......my daughter works at the Covent Garden branch and was home from Uni yesterday with their new summer shoe range
