Hi There,

We purchased our property in Kalkan earlier this year and we are considering coming out for Christmas.

However, we have just realised that our hot water supply is solely from Solar Panels. Given that our only experience of Solar panels is gained from the summer months, I wonder how efficient we could expect them to be in an average Kalkan December climate.

I would appreciate any feedback from others with more out of season experience in this matter.

It will depend upon the type of solar panel and the amount of sun or lack of. If it is sunny you will get some hot water if not, cold showers are said to be very bracing. However most modern solar panels have an electric element in them. You should check if it is connected or if you can fit one. It is unlikely to cost much and you can set it on a time switch to come on for an hour in the morning or at night.

Average daily sunlight is 5 hours in Dec/Jan. We were out last year, over New Year and have a dual system, but the panels were enough for the 2 of us.
