Birthday Help Needed
« on: July 07, 2010, 08:59:04 PM »
We arrive in Kalkan the evening before our Daughter's 12th birthday.  Does anyone know where we might be able to order a Birthday cake from?  We are staying in Kisla.

Hi - when were last in Kalkan, we happened to be in Foto Pizza when the family who own / run it were celebrating their little girls birthday. She had a fabulous cake ... I know it was fabulous because we had some! You could drop them a line, they'll tell you where to get one i'm sure ...

Also there are one or two catering companies who would be more than happy to oblige ... and a new bakery called bread and more on the Kalamar road. Someone will no doubt be along soon who will be able to tell your the caterers contact details ...

The new Bread and More shop and cafe on Kalamar Road had some fantastic looking birthday cakes on display when we were across at the start of june. Lovely place to have a coffee and the breads are different to anything else you usually see in Kalkan.

Last month we bought a lovely birthday cake from Ada Patisserie on the Kalamar Road.  It was a fairly big size and delicious and cost 25tl.

There number is 0090 242 844 2536  8)

This is a different one to Bread and More, tho we did get lovely cakes from there too but they weren't birthday cakes.
Currently have a duplex apartment in Kiziltas which we visit as often as we can.

If you book a meal at the Kaya restaurant and let them know it's a birthday they will get a cake for you if you ask and Kadir will do some magic tricks at the table for your daughter. You can email them to book it.

Thank you all so much for you advice.  I knew it would be possible to arrange something; both the Ada Patisserie and Bread and More look like great options for us as our daughter wants to eat-in on her Birthday.  I'll give them a call - Can I assume English will be spoken?

I am also going to be away when it is our daughter's 7th birthday so the ideas for birthday cake and meal sound good, you mentioned emailing them do you have an email address?

Ada has not closed, just re-located about 30 metres from the original location.  It is now located on the ground floor of Atlantis Restaurant, which itself is about 50 metres from the beginning of Kalamar road.

They can make a cake with 24 hours notice.   If you send me a PM in the next day or so, i can order your cake for you as I am going in on Saturday to organise a birthday cake for a 13 yera old.

Nur Pastanesi, on the way to the market has closed.

Will

I think that Nur Pasthane has only moved about 50 m up the hill and is now opposite Omars Kitchen
According to Omar their rent was too expensive and by moving they have reduced it by 50%

Kind offer Will but I'll give Ada a call at the weekend or early next week.  Having said that, perhaps you could let me know what you order for the 13 year old?

As you come down the hill into Kalkan from the new road, past the market and Belidiye,  Kaya is located on the left hand side just before the first roundabout. Kadir is one of the owners - he does great magic tricks and our grandchildren love going there for a meal.
