Planning first visit to Kalkan
« on: July 01, 2010, 01:42:21 PM »
Hello,

I am planning a trip for me and my fiance.  My manager owns a villa in Kalkan.  We are trying to decide the best month to go.  I would prefer a fairly nice weather time, not freezing but not extremely hot.  How cold is it either in Oct or around Christmas time?  If those two months are not recommended, can someone tell me between jan-may when would be best?  Thanks

Just like British weather forecasts, you may well get a variety of responses.  But I would suggest that Sept or early Oct should be fine.  That said, there was a major downpour last year in July but I also got sunburn on 9 December.  This year so far, the weather has been quite unpredictable, but even when cloudy, the May temperatures were fine.  Clear?

Yes, thank you.  Is it warm enough to swim in May?

You best check with the owner that the pool will be filled when you go as our pool doesnt get filled until the end of April - but there is NO WAY that I would brave it!! ;)
Currently have a duplex apartment in Kiziltas which we visit as often as we can.

October is a beautiful time of year usually. We always go the last 2 weeks. We swim in the pool and the sea at this time of the year (I would not consider it in May) I'm a bit nesh about cold water.

Yes, October is usually nice weather - my sister went last year to our apartment during half term week and it absolutely poured for the whole week!  >:D   >:D

We went mid October last year and the weather was better than May/June this year ::) . The sea is gorgeous in October but I found it too cold last month. Only thing about October, was that there was a bit of an "end of term" feeling about the place..a lot of places were getting ready to close and indeed, Palm Beach was there one day and gone the next - I mean literally gone - they removed the decking in an afternoon :)
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)
