Anniversary

When we are in kalkan in May I have just realised that it will be our wedding anniversary.  Any recommendations on venue? I was thinking about Aubergine.

Personally, I'd opt for Villa Mahal if you want it to be a romantic evening -its been voted as having one for the top ten best views in the world by the Sunday Times and the most romantic hotel in Europe by Conde Nast, so you will get brownie points and some for quoting that to the missus as you sip your wine
If you're just looking to splash the cash and not be romantic, take your pick from any of the restaurants in Kalkan - our favourite for food and service last year was Coast@Gironda, but again, its just my opinion

We're celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary while we're there in September.   
Villa Mahal sounds fantastic for our special dinner.
 Is it walkable from the town centre? (we're staying at the Kulube and will be dropped off by the hotel mini-bus)
It's obviously expensive, but is it horrendously so, or just expensive? Does anyone on here know what the food is like?
It'd be worth pushing the boat out for a special anniversary, but wouldn't want to spend all our spendys on just one meal!

Thnak you everyone.  We are staying in Kisla so the Mahal sounds perfect.  Should I go for the roof terrace of by the sea?

By the sea and watch the steps down!! Really nice but not the large Kalkan portions we are used to! Really lovely setting!

Kefgirl, its a bit of a hike from the centre of Kalkan. You could get the free water taxi over - they finish about 7, so you'd need to book an earlier dinner, and get a taxi back. Definitely a good place to celebrate a special occasion like an anniversary...well done to the Engineer
The prices are similar to Aubergine, Trio, Coast etc, but the view is to die for - particularly if you go for one of the platforms. As Roxie says, you'll need to watch the steps which can be slippy

I would reccommend Sofra, the view is is great and the food fantastic, I've never had a bad meal there. The puddings are to die for, not just the usual ice cream or creme brulee but lovely chocolate pudding.

I have heard a lot of good reports about the Sofra. Have always just walked past it.  Is it in the same price range as Aubergine, Trio and Coast?

Slightly less expensive, in my experience, and yes, good food and ambience.

We love Sofra - lovely food and not as pricey as the harbourside (in previous years). Mehmet is a legend - as is their chocolate cake  . A table at the front of the terrace will let you take in those spectacular views too. Enjoy!
