Koh Samui is lovely and has a great outdoor airport. Depends where you are staying. There are some great hotels but the main street of the main town is very busy and the more laid back night life is along the beach. The Thai people are lovely, very welcoming like Turkish people, and the food is good. The sea is warm and the snorkling good from some of the islands lying off Koh Samui. Having clothes made is very cheap and they do it within a couple of days.

Sorry but what exactly is an "outdoor" airport - aren't they all outdoors in some way?

Everything is outdoors from booking in to waiting for the plane. It's the prettiest airport I have been to.

I thought that might be the case - sounds more bearable than Dalaman
Although if dalaman was like that you would have been washed away this winter >:(

They do have a roof over some bits of it for rainy days but it's never cold.

Yes I thought the airport was the highlight of Koh Samui, otherwise I found it a bit too commercialised and 'expat occupied'. I much preferred Koh Tao.

I agree Koh Tao is much nicer and less commercialised and it might be worth Roxie catching the ferry accross for a few days after the wedding to have a chilled time.

Thanks for the replies,
We are in Bangkok for a few days and then to Koh Panyang for 3 days before Koh Samui and the wedding, so 7 days in Bohput. Think that will be plenty.

I prefer Bohput than Chewang, it's much more laid back. Koh Phanyan is also quite laid back unless you are going to a full moon party.

As massive amounts of booze and other substances are taken at the party I'm pretty sure a lot of bottoms will be flashed but luckily most of them will be young and reasonably attractive and no one will remeber they did it!

koh Jum and Koh ngai were my eldest favourites, whilst we prefered koh phi phi which is a part of krabi, but nowhere near as lovely as kalkan any of it and its a long way
