Turkish day beds
« on: November 15, 2009, 12:04:34 AM »
Hi I was wondering if anyone can help.

I have holidayed many times in Kalkan and love it there.  Im now living in Australia and want to recreate a bit of that turkish feeling by building one of those daybed things, kind of a square hut full of cushions and a low table?  Im looking for pics of one and not having much luck.  Do they have a proper turkish name?  Im having no luck on Google, or if anyone has pics of one I'd love to see, just to jog my memory.  Many thanks,
Les

I am sure some one on here must have some pictures of the one at Cafe Vita, or the one that use to be just down the street from the Nur Hotel?

Hi Les,
I think you mean "pergola". I'd like to install one in my back garden but it's too bloody cold for one. If you are successful in introducing pergolas to Australia can you not reciprocate and introduce "stubby coolers" to Kalkan - and help to keep the Efes cool?

This villa advert below has a picture of a kosk, which I believe is the Turkish name for the pergola with the low seating area.
It's at www.oructravel.com/villa.php?no=69 and you will need to scroll down to see the picture. Alternatively put Kosk + seating area in google and it will give you a number of sites to look up.

Ha ha, good idea.  I take stubby holders back to UK with me, but to keep my hands warm :).  Thanks for all replies and pics, having a bit more luck Googling now.  Cheers,
Les
