villa in old town?
« on: September 20, 2009, 02:43:50 PM »
I have fallen in love with everything about Kalkan having just spent two weeks there. We had a beautiful villa up by the Thursday market, but we are looking to book a 2/3 bedroom villa in /or very near to the old town. Can anyone help us. Brilliant forum by the way.

How about the Truffle apts,I think the top floor ones are three bed and have their own plunge pool and great views, very central and new, they look very nice indeed, they are on the EK accom section at the top of the page.
EFES TIME AGAIN !

Thanks Fidimax for your help, if we cant get to rent in the old town is there an area that we could look at that doesn't require walking that steep bit?

probably the lower end of Kalamar rd,their is plenty to rent behind the old town, but you might have a short steep climb .

Hi  if you go to www.ownersdirect.co.uk and select Kalkan old town you will find some villas in the old town, thought not all of them are.  I do know that TK1039 and TK1225 are very close to the old town, I hope that is not considered advertising but they are nothing to do with me I just happen to know where they are.

Lesley, we stayed at Dere Development in July - a mix of apartments and villas right in the old town, but with fabulous harbour views. Literally two mins to Moonlight Bar. There's a bit of a hill just before you get to the accomodation, but nothing major. Anything right in town often doesn't have a pool, so these were perfect for us. We stayed in Sahane Penthouse but next door both ways were private villas. Again, no connection with these properties (more's the pity) just trying to be helpful :D
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

Hi Lesley,
think you could rent the villas as there were different people there whilst we were there. One was called Villa Ottaman Garden..sorry, I don't know the name of any of the others. Try searching on www.ownersdirect.co.uk or www.holidaylettings.co.uk and narrowing your search to include villa, central kalkan, 3 beds etc.. Jasmine Villa wasn't part of the same development but that was a bit further down from where we were - they seem to have fabulous unobstructed views of the town beach and the harbour and still very close to town.
Good look with your search :)

I looked at this villa as a possible for my trip next year, but had to discard it because of the steep approach (my mum with whom I am travelling has some mobility issues).  It does look nice though, close to the centre but not too close, private pool etc.  Google 'villa lokum kalkan' and you'll find the owner's web site.

The villa mentioned in Firecat's reply isn't one of the Dere villas and apartments in the Old Town. That featured on the website given is way above. The Dere can be reached by walking round by the new Adda shopping centre and it's only a few minutes walk max from the centre. Most people who like these properties do so because of their proximity.
Hope this helps.

Sorry, didn't mean to imply that the villa in my suggestion was in the apartment complex you mentioned Kalkan Magic. Lokum is definitely higher up but still central from what I can tell.  I also want to be quite close to the town and with a private pool but perhaps not tooooo central because it can be a bit cheek by jowl in the more heavily built up areas. Can't have it all ways though can you!

I have no connection with Truffle Apartments other than we stayed there this summer. the position couldn't be more convenient for town and they were amazingly quiet. Although 5 apartments share the pool it was very quiet while we were there in August.

you can only do that to your own posts, Babs....which is why you can see those icons in the corner of yours and no-one elses :)
