now panacking!
« on: September 20, 2009, 09:31:28 AM »
my wife and i go to kalkan on october 9th for 10 days booked in june!, but having read some very recent posts on trip advisor and the like i'm panicking!
so many are saying "loud music bars" "noisy all night" "didn't like it and will never return" "place has gone right downhill"

my wife will kill me as i have built it up to be the complete opposite, a relaxing time away from the "UK" romantic evenings on the harbourfront
am i really going to get banging music until the early hours?

please put my mind at rest!

Don't panic you'll love it. I'm going back on 16th October with a friend having had a wonderful two weeks with my family in July. I went in October last year and had an equally fantastic time.

To set your mind at rest, read Kalkan Virgin's holiday report today and that of Antlerdubai.

It's still wonderful here.

There are some places that play music but its easy to avoid them.  If its peace and tranquility you are after then try the Mediteran.  Daytime is blissfully quiet, birds singing, call to prayer gently wafting up the valley on the breeze.  Evening is gentle classy music and a superb view of the lights twinkling in town.

We also ate down on the row of restaurants just above the harbour - Akin, Kaptans and Garden Cafe and again not disturbed by loud music.

Stop panicking its a good place  ;D

Seasick,

I don't do loud! We went to Kalkan for the first time this year and have just caved-in, two weeks later,  & booked flights for next. July 16th.

Relax and enjoy it - it's paradise!

Hi Seasick
I'm staying at the samira where we always stay. Maybe we'll see you around. My friend and I will be the ones with the ridiculous grins on our faces as we are both teachers and we're managing to escape both our classes and families for a week. ( Don't really mean it about the families!)
Hi Antler
We'll be back about the same time as you next July so may see you around.

Sounds good and another reason to keep in touch on this forum. It's nice to have it booked, and to look forward, without wanting to wish our time away.

My hubbie and I were in Kalkan for 2 weeks end July, beginning of August this year - we didn't experience any "loud music/noise" anywhere in Kalkan - it is truly a wonderful place, loads of wonderful rooftop restaurants, quiet, peaceful ambience - you will have a great time.  I have even booked already to go back on 26th July 2010 for 2 weeks.
