Was just looking at buying some furniture locally but thought that I would check out the prices with Ikea......whilst on the Ikea site i discovered that you can now order online in turkey (min order of 300tl + small delivery charge). Check it out...

Unfortunately, Ikea didn't have what i wanted but whilst surfing the net i discovered a local furniture place in Kalkan 'carpenter' called Masif Furniture (web address www.masiffurniture.com) and they are making all i need as they offer a 'made to order' service. I showed them a photo of what i was looking for and now I have the table and chairs i wanted...beautiful and at a good price.

Two options for anyone re-furbing this winter...good luck

Just tried to go into masiffurniture and found access is restricted.
Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.

Although the website shows alot of pictures of mass produced furniture this is only used to show you what can be made, guide only...all furniture is handmade onsite to your spec and doesn't come flatpacked like ikea.

The workshop can be found just off the Akbel road, turn off to the right on the way up to Akbel just after the DIY shop...follow the road all the way to the end and it's on the left.  It's is not a showroom like Kelebek, it's a working carpenters.

It's hard to compare prices to Ikea, i had something made to order which ikea doesn't do. I was very happy with the price, less than i expected to pay for something handmade from solid wood.

There are guide prices on the website and from my experience the price charged depends on the quality (material) and the work required.

Give them try and see for yourself.
