Blondes in Turkey

Hi Everyone, this will be my first time in turkey and have been told I will probably get hassled because my wife and two young girls are all blonde ,is there any truth to this , is it one of those urban myths or is it that they are thinking of some where else . thanks Craig

I am blonde and have not experienced this is Kalkan.  I did have hassle once on a fated trip to Marmaris!  Your children may attract attention as the Turks love children, but it will not be just because they are blonde.

I would suggest that this kind of attention is more a North African or Asian thing - the Turkish do indeed love children and I am sure that you will not feel unsettled by this.

That sounds like one of those typical stories put around by people who won''t go abroad "because they all eat that foreign muck" (or worse, think they know everything about other cultures because they once saw a 1960''s travel documentary on TV)!

Don''t worry, blondes do not get hassled in Turkey in general, and definitely not in Kalkan.  My wife and stepdaughter are both blonde and have no problems whatsoever.

Tunisia, however, is a different matter

I''m blonde and had no probs in Turkey, but had big problems in Tunisia and Jamaica.  Never again...

Just come back after spending 8 days in paradise, no hassle whatsoever, and I''m blonde!!! (shame really, as I had left the husband at home!!!!)

No problem, we had 2 weeks last year with my wife and 2 daughters 18 &21 both blondish. other than the noramal looks which the girls get everywhere it is no problem. back again next week with them :-)
