Just found this info out and thought I''d share it with you all. Not having a photo driving licence I need to sort it.

This quote is from The AA and DVLA

"An IDP is compulsory for holders of driving licenses not incorporating a photograph and also recommended for photocard licence holders when driving in Turkey."

Can anyone confirm that this is the reality on the ground?  Have been stopped a couple of times at regular road checks, not this year but recently, and non-photo driving licence has been accepted.

It has been the same for me. I have an old style pink licence and have not had a problem before, but things seem to be changing if you believe what''s being said on the official websites. I personally don''t know.

If you''re a resident, you must have a notarised translation of your UK licence with you, and will soon need a Turkish licence.

The Police seemed quite happy with my husbands battered old pink non photo licence when they stopped him for speeding last October. The hire companies don''t seem to think it is a problem either.

That''s ok if you''re driving a Turkish reg hire car, but not if it''s an M reg foreign resident''s vehicle.
