Hi Everyone,

Not Turkey related I know but Im in the middle of planning a trip to Barcelona and looking for good but inexpensive accommodation for 6 people close to everything (Rambles?!)

Anyone got any suggestions on places to stay or places to visit? Also, whats the weather normally like in September?

Cheers
Jon

I always use the hop on/hop off tourist bus on city breaks. I''d recommend the cathedral and Park Guell.

I stayed here a few years ago and it was very central, clean and good value. http://www.hotelgaudibarcelona.com/

I was there a few weeks ago and stayed at the Meridian which was lovely and again very central, but might cost a bit more (company paid ;-)  http://www.starwoodhotels.com/lemeridien/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=1931

Go to Catalunya Square with its outdoor cafes and entertainers, watch your bags though, it''s pick pockets heaven anywhere on Las Ramblas!
Enjoy!

Having been royally robbed in Spain, let me say Barcelona is one of the worst.  Be very careful to hide your money on you and not to leave valuables behind.  I even take my computer everywhere with me, having become paranoid over too many thefts.  And many of the thieves are not Spanish, although some are.

But on the bright side, Barcelona is a beautiful and interesting city.  Enjoy!

Yes agree with Cosetta about pick pockets, particularly on the underground. Despite this really love the place.

Places to eat ( I always have food on my mind) Set Portes and for tapas Euskal Etxae

Shoe heaven, lots of small boutiques, all with matching bags!!

I love the Gaudi park as well as the Sagrada. I also enjoyed gonig up to the top of the hill on the fenicular, great views from the top

See everything Gaudi, the Nou Camp is a must and my personal favourite is Font Magica - I never fail to be mesmerised by this after dark. It will be lovely in September, but humid. For Mrs EK, the shops are a dream - may be a little late but the wedding dresses are amazing  ;)
Enjoy Barcelona......oooohhh I feel a website coming on ;D ;D

Have you considered renting an apartment.  Take a look on Owner''s Direct, there are several apartments right in the centre, it may also save you some euros for the lovely restaurants!

Yes I also think that renting an apartment is preferable.
We rented through www.barcelona-on-line.es/eng/barcelona.aspx.  We stayed in the Gothic quarter, just off Las Ramblas, and we had a fab time.  A friend of mine recommends Hotel Jazz, which is also quite central.
