Can somebody help me please?
« on: February 04, 2009, 02:04:28 PM »
On Sunday we gave a Turkish couple a lift to Akbel from the Islamlar area - we were just below the junction near Genghis''s wood yard when we picked them up.  Neither spoke English but the man was very chatty.  I think  he was with his mother (but it could have been his wife)  he had three children, he was 55 and had 5 grandchildren.  Then he spoke too quickly for me to understand and I didnt actually ask where he lived.  I am not sure if he lived in Akbel or where we picked him up.  He mentioned Kinik and Antalya and I think he said thats where his children lived.
We discovered that evening that he had left his coat in our car (hire car).  There was 10+ YTL in the pocket, a few Diclofenac type pain killers and some seeds.  Nothing of much value but it was a nice warm coat and I want to find him and give it back to him.
Could everybody please ask their friends if they know this man and we will happily return the coat to him.  Please spread the word particularly to anybody who lives near Genghis''s wood place.  If not I shall take it to the shop there.

Just to let you know that by walking to Akbel and asking around we have managed to locate the owner of the missing coat.  Thank you for all your replies.
Obviously pool towels are far more important!

I am sorry that I did not help with the search, but I was here in London, at work, trying to get in every day through some atrocious weather.  Fidimax is spot on - were you expecting responses from every user, even if they didn''t know the identity of the coat''s owner?

That said, well done on returning it to its rightful home.  I really think your efforts were admirable.

Hi Eniste very well said as sometimes you get so many negative responses to a post
e.g. "will anybody be in Kalkan next week to meet up" - is the question ?
and then there are loads of replies saying "no I won''t be", rather than ones who say yes I will be
Could we perhaps limit responses to only positives maybe?
Or is that being negative?

As I have said on this forum before, "If you have nothing useful to say, say nothing".  I really do think what the initiator of this strand did was delightful - few would have bothered - but loads of nil responses would simply have clouded the issue.

I agree, and what Villa pisces did, giving the "coat"man and his wife a lift, and managing to return the coat, for me is what kalkan is about, friendliness, how many people would give someone they didnt know a lift
back in the uk.  :)
