Prince Charles
« on: November 14, 2008, 01:38:04 PM »
Today is Prince Charles''s 60th Birthday and there have numerous articles on this milestone and the British Monarchy and accession.
The Queen has indicated that she will not abdicate, and bearing in mind the longevity of the female royals, Charles could be 80+ when he finally becomes King.
From comments he has reportedly made, he is not looking forward to ruling.
Should he consider abdicating in favour of Prince William -a young King may help to improve the perception of the British Royal family in the eyes of the youth population,
Or do you think the will follow his mother''s lead in doing his "duty" until he goes to his grave.

As a staunch republican I''m not too fussed and I haven''t got much time for Charles as a person.

Next week (20th November) we are having a family do for my Mum and Dad''s joint 75th Birthday, it will definitely be more fun than thinking about Prince Charles and all the stress he has about his life. It must be tough at the top.
Mind you, I wouldn''t want to be married to Shergar Spice and be the King of England for all the tea in China.
Nothing is really work unless you would rather be doing something else.

Hi
I quite like Charles, he has challenged many politicians and businessmen to improve social welfare in this country, which has gone unreported in the press. He does a lot of work for charities, young people, and impoverished families in the UK.
His job is not one I would like to do, nor I suspect many other people!
The present Queen has set a high standard, and if Charles does get to be King, it will be a hard act to follow.
I think there is a lot to be said for Charles to abdicate his responsibility in favour of his son, all depending at what age both Charles and William would be at the time. That is not a job I would like either!
I would much rather talk to my plants than have to shake hands all day with the general public...who knows where their hands have been :o
I''ll give my soapbox to someone else now...

He also gave his gardener a MBE,cheated on his wife and in a lot of his future subjects eyes might have been involved in the death of three people .

Hi
Loads of people get MBEs for dubious reasons, many men cheat on their wives, and I do not believe he was stupid enough to kill the Mother of his children.
The children were devastated at the loss of their Mother, and I do not think he would have wanted to see his children upset for one minute.
Now take that soapbox away! ;D
