New airline from manchester

Jet2 are now flying to Dalaman from Manchester as of 18 May 09. Previously only went from LeedsBradford.
Pirice on 18 May is £69.99 before taxes.

I suppose some one has to try and fill the gap left by Excel who had a lot of flights out of Manchester. It is a quandary, as if they want to ensure they succeed they need to get the bookings, but people are now looking for more guarantees. Make sure you pay by credit card or consider taking out an insurance that covers you, in case the worse happens.

Im not sure if thats the case Sally, or certainly not what the insiders are saying, some are even hinting of a potential Ryanair takeover if there was troubles, but again this is not confirmed

None of it is confirmed but the insiders I know are mighty dubious about Jet 2.

Also interesting to see that there is another airline starting up - Kiss - some of the managers of XL appear to be involved!

re Kiss airline. I am reliably informed by a former employee that some former high up managers and CEO''s from Excel are involved in this new airline. One of them even has a very nice shiny new car with the registration plate KI55!

I really hope EasyJet start Dalaman flights out of Manchester or Liverpool...although there doesn''t appear to be any plans  . As Joan says, there''s not much choice for northwest travellers since XL...think I''ll write to Stelios

The new Kiss flights aren''t cheap either, £436 for half term May 09 - too much me thinks.

TF, have you tried Exclusive Escapes? They also do flight only and I understand they are a bit better than average on leg room and luggage allowance and definitely cheaper than £436 each??? Only downside is they are fixed at either 7 or 14 days - no flexibilty if you want anything in between, or longer.

I wish Easy Jet would hurry up & bring out their timetable for next year - I''ve been told that they don''t publish times until 6 months before the actual flights - is that so?

A friend flew into Manchester at the weekend and saw an XL Air liveried plane taxi in - I wonder who''s using them and what name will appear over the winter?
