Kalkan is very different in Winter, we went over New Year and had a great time The majority of shops are closed and only a handful of restaurants are open but the locals are relaxed and happy to see you. The weather, when we were there, was nice most days, rained a couple and was cold at night. I think you need to hire a car, as there is not much to do in Kalkan during the day. A day trip to Gombe was  good, there was snow up there and some nice walks. At night pick a restaurant with a fire and snuggle in and enjoy turkish hospitality. Everyone seems to be chilled as there are few people about but the waiters are happy to see you.
New Years Eve at the Aubergine was fantastic, fun, food, fires and fireworks. We also stayed in the Villa one night and had soup with crusty bread and cheese as we were tired.
Winter is quiet and you need to make your own fun but it''s worth giving Kalkan a try.

I have been here in February for a few days - it was wet and chilly but views were still great over Kalamar Bay.  I was also here in April/May and really enjoyed it.  The place is getting ready for the new season, and everyone seemed chilled (the people working in restaurants and shops must feel pretty burned out this time of the year).
Where I am there was the building noise (especially from the new development in Firnaz Bay, but I did not find it too intrusive and watching the shepherdesses bringing the goats down the mountain in the morning is a rare treat.

Haven''t been here in winter yet, but planning on spending Christmas and New Year here this year.  I have some Turkish friends living and working here and they say the pace of life changes completely.  I am looking forward to it.
