Visa law to be amended?
« on: September 19, 2008, 08:04:33 PM »
Hello all.

Not sure if this is the right place for this, or if it has already been mentioned. I did a quick search but did not see anything regarding this.

I have been told that the law is to be changed so that the 90 day visa limit is to be brought down to just 30 days. I think this is to stop people doing the visa run 4 times a year and to pay for 1-5 year residency. Not sure when this is going to happen, just that its in the pipe line.

Hi jav,
Where did you get the information from? Changing the visa to 30 days is going to cause havoc with quite a few people including us, ??? we normally stay for 3 mths early in the year, back to uk for 3mths and back to Kalkan for another 3 mths. Any other information you have will be appreciated. :)
Regards

There is an article in the latest Fethiye Times about doing the "Visa Run" to Meis. They did not mention any change to the rules.

As I''ve mentioned in another thread, the ''rules'' don''t allow 3 monthly renewals - as it says on the London Turkish Embassy website, if you intend to stay longer than 3 months you require a residence permit. I think they''ve so far ''tolerated'' the 3 monthly renewals, perhaps to satisfy the boat-trip and duty-free trades.

I''ve lived here for almost 5 years and the rules I''m quoting have been in existence all that time - I don''t know of any countries that allow you to continually ''top-up'' a visitor''s visa.
