Tuning TV
« on: September 10, 2008, 05:10:51 PM »
Hi, please help!
Every time we come out here, someone has obviously been fiddling with the TV settings.  The only channels that we can get on our tv are porn channels and for obvious reasons, I don''t want these to be so accessible, merely by switching it on.  We rent our apartment out and short of removing the plug, are unsure what we should do about this.  We have a Turk satellite dish and paid a one-off payment.  We do not have monthly bills.

We usually can receive BBC World, CNN and a few other English speaking channels, but the channels that we are receiving at the moment need no commentary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any suggestions gratefully received.

I''m afraid I can''t talk you through it as I''d need the TV in front of me and I''m in the UK now; but you can access the menu of your satellite receiver and lock any channels you don''t want people to see. We did this to avoid children surfing the channels and "accidentally" tuning into those they shouldn''t see. You attach a 4 digit code to the channel which is locked until this is entered.
We have a note in our letting booklet telling people where the code is so they can choose to watch or conceal it from younger eyes.

If it is happening a lot could it be management/housekeeping who are rechanneling your TV. I can''t believe that most of your visitors are accessing saucy channels. If the are perhaps you need to change where you advertise!!!!!!!!!

Hi Jinfizzz

if you get the satelleite dish realigned for Nile sat you will not have this problem you will have euronews,CNN,BBC world and plenty of film and kids channels to watch free of charge the system you have is not on a Turkish satellite but on hotbird (excuss the pun) worth doing as you already have the equipment
