Anyone used a Remoska?
« on: August 17, 2008, 09:04:31 PM »
Hi Gang
I am considering investing in a Remoska cooker and wondered if anyone on the forum has one, or used one. If so, what do you think? Are they worth the money and as versatile and economical to run as they say?
Cheers
Joan

No Felicity, that is the point, it is suppose to do much more than "slow cook", you can roast, toast and bake in them, you cannot do that with a slow cooker.

I don''t think you would be disappointed Joan. We bought a remoska about 3 years ago, hand carried it from the UK to Turkey and it is one of my best kitchen buys  ever. It does everything it says, and more. Never had a disappointing result, sponges are perfect. Roast chicken crispy on the outside, succculent on the inside. Great for quick and tasty snacks, easy to clean, uses very little electricity. I highly recommend it.

Also as a benefit of buying from Lakeland, if you bought it and for some reason were not happy, Lakeland will refund your money in full, even after a  few months of use.

Can also highly recommend the Lakeland Koolbabe water cooler - sits on a counter top, takes 5 litre water bottles, so no problem lifting those very heavy 20 litre bottles which the full size coolers use and provides constant chilled water -  freeing up lots of ''fridge space.  We brought that out in our suitcase as well.

Hope you enjoy using your remoska.

What is it about Lakeland?
I spend a small fortune on their wares every year. Whenever I open a catalogue it''s full of things I never knew I needed ;D and the shop in Chester is my regular Saturday jaunt...well its just up from Starbucks.

Long live Lakeland!
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

Thanks for the information Lantana,
I have read all the reports on the Lakeland and on the web, but started thinking "it cannot be this versatile and good". I have been looking for ages for something suitable for the apartment  as the way the units are I would stuggle to find space for a cooker. This sounds like an ideal compromise. I think I shall take the plunge and order one and then I can try it out at home before coming to Kalkan.
One further question, make that two,- is it heavy and will it fit in a case or did you bring yours in the box? Shucks that''s three questions  ;D
Cheers
Joan

Okay Joan - three questions and three answers, it weighs about 3 kilos. We brought it out in a soft, carry on bag, without the box. It would have fitted into a suitcase. We brought our water cooler out in our suitcase.

For true Lakeland fans there are even Lakeland forums, where devoted (and obviously mad) customers get together to share their experiences of the delights of this wonderful company and yes, I have read them but not yet been tempted to post anything.

Lakeland autumn catalogue now out - good game is to to find the most pointless item - used to be the banana tree, but this year - how about the OXO good grips corn stripper "to separate the niblets from the cob"? Remoska good though and now joined by the baby Remoska! Also revived the Soda Stream - but no lime concentrate!

K4Eva

Have long thought about getting one of those, now I shall order immediately.

Have you tried Barkeeper''s Friend? Cleans absolutely everything and very non-abrasive but tackles every tough cleaning job (my only excuse for this post is the heat here, it''s 52.5 outside the room I''m writing this and that''s not in the direct sun)

My inside/outside thermometer with remote sensor and digital readout came of course from Lakeland.

If you love Lakeland, have you discovered Tchibo?  We even have Tchibo stores in Turkey, so many gadgets, so little time.

Well, I have done the deed!!!
Have just ordered one, free delivery and chose the free utensil set.
Was very tempted by the glow in the dark "rubber band" thingy that you put round your glass so you can drink in the dark, and by the venetian blind hoover but managed to resist.
Will now start searching for a good Lizard Stew recipe. >:D

I was in Prague last week, the home of the remoska, and could have picked one up for you all.  Ho hum.  As an aside, did you know that Skoda means pity or shame in Czech, as in "oh, what a shame!".  Well, have you ever driven one?

Changing strand to the 4-word phrase, another thing I realised while there was that "Efes is average beer"
