The strike day has now passed, but I am confused as to why they had the strike/meeting
Was it because of unlicensed "taxis" or because of hotel shuttles?
Can anyone tell and also what was the outcome? (Apart from a punch-up)

I went out on a last minute cheapy a couple of years back and didn''t book a transfer, thinking I would share a taxi with someone into Dalaman and get the bus to Fethiye. As no-one else was going into Dalaman village I asked the price and was pointed to the board. However, after 30-40 mins one of the Dalaman taxi drivers said he would do it for the price I normally paid Abi.
Just shows that, if you hang out long enough and haggle well, the ''set'' price can be flexible.
I get so cross with people who can''t be bothered to haggle, pushes the price up for the rest of us. Grrr.

oooh grumpygrampy you''re living up to your user name!!  ;)
It''s a bit harsh to say people "can''t be bothered" haggling - not everyone has the confidence. And as you will always haggle you''ve no need to worry about the price being pushed up....
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

This thread started with a memo for people that the taxis were on strike for a day, whilst they had a meeting. It then started to wander into speculation as to why they were meeting and has now turned into a thread about taxi fares.
I am still no wiser, although it would appear to have been about the shuttle buses/shopping delivery services.
Perhaps it is now time to consider whether to end this thread and for the discussions to continue under the "Shuttle Bus Thread and perhaps another one discussing taxi fare?
