Favourite Kalkan Memories

As per the title, what is your favourite Kalkan memory?

For me it has to be the lovely meals and nights we had at the now long gone Luka restaurant on the corner of the road into Kalkan

My first Turkish haircut in the shack as you walk past the post office. They had very basic equipment but delivered a quality cut. My wife and sons sat outside watching and were hysterical when the barber started to vigorously massage me.A memory never to be forgotten.

Oh we have lots. But our first ever trip to Kalkan over 10 years ago ( I think if might be 15 years ago)
It rained for the first 7 days in early May the water was running down death hill the cars were skidding back down the hill.

I thought what have we done. But even with all the rain we fell in love with Kalkan. Luckily our 2nd week was pure sunshine..
I remember thinking how friendly everyone was. We loved the restaurants the most.

Back in Kalkan tomorrow can't wait.

I remember that also! It was like a river running down to the harbour. Hope you enjoy your holiday, would be great to read a report 😀

Kalkan memories..... that makes me feel like Kalkan is a distant, past tense thing and for me it feels very alive in my memory bank...so what can I drag out of my memory bank....the gorgeous people, the service culture, the Kalkan smell...a mix of heat and cooking and feeling so at peace...

Wow, so many old memories and hopefully lots more new ones to make.

But I guess the first ever memory was the first sight of the view of mouse and snake as I opened the curtains (we arrived in the dark) from our villa in Kisiltas, on out first holiday to Kalkan! It blew me away and I knew then we were onto something special.  :)

Remember the days before the “new road” and how everyone went on about it  :)

As it's over 27yrs since our first time in Kalkan not sure the memory cells are that clear now & a lot has gone on since then. But sitting on Kalamar Bay watching a stray cat steal a fisherman's fish he had just caught & run up a nearby tree only then to see the man run up the tree after the cat & fish. The winner.....The fisherman...It was only a small fish too. That was on our first visit.

When we first came to Kalkan about 10 years ago I did a lot of research using this forum and KTLN. On our first morning walking into the town it was funny as I knew exactly where to go as everything was exactly as I expected it. My husband asked someone for directions and I knew the way thanks to everyone on here! I still remember our first walk through town to the harbour waiting for a boat to a beach club. The Palm Beach one came first and even though we have tried others we always remain loyal to Palm Beach! So thank you to everyone on here who helped contribute to our Kalkan memories!
