Well looking at the people passing on cameras and the lack of bums on seats outside the Moonlight it looks like Kalkan is very quiet! I feel sorry for the businesses if that's the case but yet again I hope they don't thrash those that do come to Kalkan with inflated prices.....

I thought the same in terms of how quiet it is....hopefully it will pick up next week for half term holidays? There is a tendency to inflate the prices if fewer people are around (and if the exchange rate is good) just seems the Turkish way. I read somewhere on a social media site that Efes is pricey this year, someone saying they couldn't get an Efes for under 12tl. I thought it was about the that price last year...? To be honest, I forget...just know BH gets through a lot of it whilst we're there

Well it looks busier on the webcams this week, but its deathly quiet on here...
Its not like past seasons when "lively discussions" have taken place over block paving, new roads, street animals and Kalkan becoming Marmaris...should I go on? I suppose we should be thankful people have nothing to gripe about this season

Many of the "Old Stalwarts" that used to wax lyrical over the joys of Kalkan have vanished faster than a pie on a fat mans plate

I also think that people are being encouraged to post on Facebook etc. I have to say that I prefer this site as it is easier to follow threads and to find useful information. I've got a little over two weeks until I will be in Kalkan and I fully intend to write a regular blog.

I'm off in two weeks also and I can't wait. I found this site so useful when I first went to Kalkan. And up until a couple of years ago dipping in and out of here in the months running up to my trip kept me going until I was  off. Sadly, it has gone quite quiet and I find myself sending daily text messages to my travelling companions to ask " where will we eat on the Sunday" and " what day will we do our boat trip?" Just so I can get my fix of Kalkan buzz!! I'm sure that they are tormented by me! I'm sure that there are worse forms of torment though.
I won't promise a blog but I hope to post a couple of times with some ramblings on my impressions of my 8th visit to Kalkan. I can scarely believe it! Never thought I'd be someone to return repeatedly to the same place. But hey it's hard to beat perfection. Is it June yet? Yes it is !!!!

Yes, many people are now posting on Facebook "Friends of Kalkan".  Not easy to follow, a great mish-mash of stuff from people one doesn't know.  The only really useful forum on Facebook is DOC MARTINS SURGERY FOR EXPATS IN TURKEY.  He always has all the latest info on anything regarding "how to" in Turkey, esp residence permits but also much more.  Is a pan-Turkey site.

Kalkan and especially Islamlar are rapidly becoming Turkish tourist towns.  Turks don't read EK!

I agree about Friends of Kalkan on FB, its incredibly hard to follow the threads and if you post in one you get a million notifications. Lots of Turkish people post on there too - if only to promote their services but that's fair enough. If you haven't already, its worth joining the group.
Chris_S, I think you may also be arriving soon...we may bump into each other whilst we stay hydrated
Lets not forget the King of Kalkan will also be in residence in a matter of days, although he makes it a strict rule not to post whilst there.

YeH, we haven't been back to Kalkan for a couple of years.  Not really happy with Erdogan to be honest.  Have been to Skiathos and Dubrovnik both of which are lovely.  May go back to Kalkan again one day but have realised that there are other places just as nice.  Sorry to be negative as we have been to Kalkan maybe 7 or 8 times.
