Question

I'm visiting on 24/1/17 for a week mainly to pick up keys etc for our appartment for the first time. We are staying the first night in a hotel but the remainder of the week we will be in our property. Do we have to register with anyone ?.

Hi Mick congrats again  ;D exciting stuff!

When we completed a year or so ago, nobody told us we had to do anything, but around 6/7 months later we were told that we should go to the council offices to register/for council tax. To do this you need your passports and a copy of your TAPU.
The council offices are on the right hand side as you go into the market (blue building if I remember correctly). Obviously if you go any day other than a Thursday and the market isn't there, it looks totally different!!
Anyone else on here may be more experienced and may suggest something different, but I'm just telling you what we did!
Good luck.

Sezkalkan.

Many thanks.

My property is already registered with council for tax purposes. Estate agent has taken care of this with P O A . I was thinking more about accountability as in visitors to country/guests as was posted a while ago.

I read that you had to inform the police who was staying in your property.

Always happy to have comments/information.

I will have to follow this in the hope that somebody knows and responds! I know there has been some talk of it but I've not heard anything official as yet.
I would ask my management manager but she's on holiday for 8 weeks at the moment!

Their was an article regarding this on KTLN a few weeks ago.
I am sure it stated that if you own the property, family members or friends are using it, then you do not have to inform the Jandarma.
If you rent it to anybody who is not of the above then the Jandarma need to be informed of arrival date and leave date. Cannot remember if they need copy of passports or not.
If you are registered for KTLN the article is in the "Kalkan News" section.

Hi Mick,

If you or your solicitor/agent haven't already registered for council tax you will need to register at the council office and have with you passport, tax code number and tapu, for the owner/owners named on the tapu when we did it 2years ago we had to present originals for passport and tapu not copies.

Enjoy your new acquisition.

Kind Regards,
Stuart
