Winter break
« on: October 18, 2016, 09:55:24 AM »
We have been coming to Kalkan every  November for years it is just the most perfect month and usually always wonderful weather. This year we aren't too sure with the present economic climate and the quieter season overall, I had heard and only hearsay as they say! That a lot of the restaurants that are normally open all year may be shutting this year with it being such a mixed up season? There are flights from Antalya as usual so that isn't a problem! Any one any thoughts ?

Think its a case of wait & see in some cases, in the past some have said they will stay open then you find they have closed. In all honesty there are not many that stay open all year anyway so quite a limited choice.

There will be some places who will still open mostly because the Turkish locals use them.

I know for sure mussaka, Salonica, marleys, shade bar are staying open and would expect most of the little Turkish restaurants along from hunkar will probably stay open but that's as much as I know, safe is open until at least 2 Nov and maybe one more week after that they not sure yet. Hope that helps a little , maybe some others know more.

I have seen on facebook that cosmopolitan (Kalamar rd) will be open 3 days per week during the winter. Adams (Kas rd) also remains open.

Pera is also open during the winter, certainly plenty enough - I don't think anyone will starve.

i know salonika are not opening this year for Christmas & New year .. ! and there are no flights to Dalaman either this year which is a shame. We have always come out for new year but based on this we are giving it a miss this year. However I'm sure you will still have plenty open in nov and the weather can still be nice.

Oh really Pattaya, we were told only last weekend that Salonika will be open New Year's Eve for a big party down that street, maybe they've changed their mind ??

Oh unless he has changed his mind, when we was there late September we asked the owner as we spent last NYE there and he said this year he was closing and going away. Maybe he has had a change of plan ..
