Boat trip to Kekova - any recommendations?
« on: June 14, 2016, 09:56:36 PM »
A couple of years ago we went on a boat trip from Kas to Kekova ( well, a coach to ucagiz from Kas percent and then the boat trip) . We had a great time - even tho we didn't understand any of the commentary or our fellow boat trippers ! We'd like to do it again this year but can we organise it from Kalkan - to be picked up by a mini bus perhaps - and do any of the trips have an English guide ? Also, we've never done one of the kalkan boat trips ( I know, shocking !) where do they go and any recommendations for a 'quiet' boat - don't mind sharing with others so long as it's not hundreds of people !
Many thanks

Hi

Lots of the tour companies in Kalkan have a trip to Kekova but we went quite a while ago with Abi Travel and enjoyed it.  i believe their trip to Kekova has been voted the best.  Their office is on the main shopping street just higher up than the Merkez.  They can also arrange a boat trip but if there are just two of you we would recommend Captain Abdi on Pina X, good food and a good host, his boat takes around 14 or so people.

Got to be the Abi trip. Going again on Friday and reckon it's our 21St time. Think that says it all and yes it has been featured and recommended by the UK press

Yes I totally agree! Kekova is a fab boat trip and the journey there through the mountains is amazing too.  We have been on this trip 3 times in 5 weeks and all have been a wonderful day out , 2 of them being with Define Tours.

With regard to the Kalkan trips, we always go on Yildez 2 with Captain Osman or Pina X with Captain Abdi. I guarantee you will have a fantastic time if you choose one of these, but there are also a lot of other boats that are equally as good, but these are just our favourites. They are on average around 12 people on them.

Anyway hope whatever you decide to go on, you have a lovely time.

We went to kekova last week with volume travel and it was the best trip we've done. All English speaking and plenty of room on the boat.

Re kalkan boat trips I'd recommend pina  x or yildiz for shared or smile and anil if private. Like Jayne says though, you can't go wrong with any I'm sure.  :)

We quite fancy a trip to Kekova this year. I've read the posts and a number of holiday report for a boat trip organised from Kalkan (via Ucagiz) . However i read a great holiday report very recently about a self drive trip to Ucagiz where they were collected by boat from a pansiyon in Kalaykoy (sorry if all my place names are wrong but you get the gist). I'd love to stay overnight in Kalaykoy but perhaps not this year. I'm wondering if it's equally viable to just get a taxi to and from Ucagiz and when there organise a private boat trip direct. I've read a number of reviews for Kalaykoy accommodation who have arranged boat trips locally.
Perhaps it's overly expensive to do it this way?
Any thoughts from anyone who has done similar?
