Summer working in Kalkan

Hey guys,

I've just joined the forum and have recently returned from a holiday in Kalkan. I went in September and loved it so much that I then went back a couple weeks ago.

I'm looking for some advice as I would love to spend a summer (April-October) working in Kalkan. I understand that I would firstly need to have a job offer, which hopefully wouldn't be an issue as I have contacts in Kalkan and I would then need to apply for the temporary work visa. Is this correct?

I am a 23 year old female from the UK. I'm a keen traveller and have lived abroad in both the USA for 3 summers and I used to live in North Cyprus, so I'm used to working abroad and to the Turkish culture. Does anybody have any information on whether this would be possible? If so, what work should I be looking for. I'm pretty much open to anything but would like to do bar work.

It's my understanding that you can only get a work permit for a job that can't be filled by a Turkish person and bar work wouldn't fit that criteria. To work without one would mean deportation if caught. The most likely way to get work is through a travel company as a rep in the resort as they get work visas for their staff.

I understand that you would need residency before you could apply. on a tourist visa you would run out of days that you are allowed ( 90 days in 180) also if you were found to be working without a work permit you could be deported and refused entry again. Think this is correct but if anyone knows different ?

No question re work permit, you will have to have one if you don't want any problems. Even if you have friends in Kalkan who will let you work for them it has been known on several occasions that someone else will report you to the authorities re working so beware.
