BBC I player
« on: October 18, 2015, 04:26:11 PM »
Hi.  I know many of you watch UK TV through VPNs such as Hide my Ass.  Has anybody else found they have been refused access to BBC I player because they can identify you are using a VPN?  If so, have you got round it and is there any other way to access UK TV?  Film on doesn't work for me because of the time difference.

I use MPN (My Private network) on both IPad and Android tablet and it works perfectly. £5 per month.
I have had problems using MPN on my laptop but the company helped me to sort it out.

Hi Baclava.  Have you tried to access BBC I player in the last week?  They have just changed their website access.

Soprano - no problem. Just downloaded Strictly results show. (I know how sad is that!)

There was a thread on the Turkish Living forum a day or so ago about being unable to watch BBC I player using a VPN.

Maybe it depends on what VPN you use. There are some free ones but I prefer my tried and tested 'My Private network.' Works equally as well on ITV Player.

I also just checked with HMA and see that all UK addresses are forwarding to "virtual Portugal".  And looking up those IPs, they do say Portugal so BBC Iplayer can easily identify that as false.

MPN has a real UK server but I found they have very few servers worldwide and are too slow from Kalkan so switched to HMA.

I have found HMA Pro works fine on both PC and iPad BUT you do have to update/reinstall it regularly, especially after an OS update.
I normally avoid the London IPs and use "Maidstone" or "Gosport"  ;)
