Authentic Turkish Cafe
« on: June 25, 2015, 04:19:29 PM »
Hello,

I am looking for a few suggestions as to the whereabouts and names of places you consider very "turkish" for lunches/early suppers please.  We are staying at one of the Mediterranean Apartments.
Many many thanks in advance.

I would recommend Rose restaurant, up a side street off the Kalamar Road roundabout, past Kipa, opposite the entrance to the Samira Deluxe. Coriander on the main street going out of town, also very good and popular with locals.

I would definitely recommend Moonlight Pension just in the Kalamar Road round the corner from Chillies.  Lovely authentic Turkish food run by a lovely family, and the mum does all the cooking.  They have a lovely roof terrace with fab views of the bay.

Another vote for Moonlight Pension.    Quite apart from the food the view is glorious both day and evening across the bay.   A great place for both lunch and dinner.  I am sure breakfast too, come to think of it, although I haven't tried that.

I have just remembered also, that some of their dishes you have to pre-order by I seem to remember around 11am on the day, it truly is wonderful food in my opinion! There is an al a carte menu though that you can choose from without pre-ordering though.

You could try Salonika near Moonlight Bar or Blue Marlin on the harbour for meze, and don't forget Guru's and Adem's on the Kas road, both family run and serving authentic turkish food.  Both these last two also offer a free transport service.

Ayse's Kitchen up by the Bus Station. Our House up by the new school and Small House in town. Also Oz Adana on the roundabout and Ali Baba's (Soup Kitchen) opposite the "market stall" on the way into town.
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)
