Prosecco substitute
« on: May 25, 2015, 10:36:40 AM »
If anyone fears Prosecco withdrawal symptoms whilst in Kalkan, I have discovered an acceptable Turkish substitute. It's called Bianca sparkling wine. I've been drinking it at the chic bar called Mini-Bar, next to the PTT, but probably other bars do it too.

Thanks for that Mags.   I do enjoy a sparkling wine and although I love G and Ts, especially in Kalkan, and the Turkish wine and Efes there are times when a lovely chilled glass (or two) of a Prosecco type drink is called for.    Next visit to Kalkan in less than two weeks so will look for Bianca sparkling in places like Yali so we can enjoy it at home.   Bubbles always make an occasion seem festive.

Anyone else found a nice sparkling wine in Kalkan?  Real champagne in Kalkan is rather more than I would be planning to pay for.

Mrs A will be pleased with this news - and the fridge up on the roof terrace is likely to be full of the stuff!!!

Thanks for sharing, Mags

Thanks, Mags. I seriously miss a decent fizz when we are in Kalkan and have yet to find a good one, with a reasonable price tag to be honest. I tend to buy some champagne in duty free and keep them for a special moment. A palatable fizz with an ok price tag is all that's missing from our Kalkan stays at the moment. Is it available to buy in the supermarkets..?

Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)
