Pruning Bouganvilea
« on: December 10, 2014, 02:23:02 PM »
Bougainvillea tends to become very unruly if not kept in check and I was surprised to find that long handled pruners (the ideal 'weapon' to tackle this thorny problem) do not seem to be available locally.  Anyone got any ideas as to availability and price. When I say long handled, I mean about three metres operated by cord, cable or rod.

You can buy tree loppers at the DIY in Kalkan but quite expensive { as last time I looked the cutting head was about 60 TL ] or from hardware shops in Fethiye where they were about 25 TL in Home Prof

Or you can  buy the cutting head with the cord etc. [ but buy one with the curved saw attachment ] from Kinik market and maybe elsewhere and then buy an expendable  painters pole [ go for a 4 m aluminium one as they are lighter and if not fully extended - more rigid ]

Join the two together and a much cheaper as and workable solution

If you are going into Fethiye at any time try HomeProf, they seem to do all those sort of things, we have bought a proper garden fork in there before now.
