Bringing a vehicle to Turkey
« on: December 15, 2014, 05:36:31 PM »
We understand that buying a vehicle in Turkey is up to 4 times the cost as in the UK. So we are thinking about driving ours to Turkey. Does anyone know how to bring a vehicle into Turkey? I'm aware of the 6 month rule, but we want to register our vehicle in Turkey and I assume have to pay customs duty on it. But as with trying to find out on the cost from the relevant department at the Turkish Embassy London or in Ankara , it has proved impossible.

So I was wondering if anyone has brought their vehicle from the UK and registered it in Turkey and if so, what's the process/cost?

Many thanks

I don't know anything re registering a UK registered car in Turkey, I do know that cars are def more expensive in Turkey but Nothing like 4 X's the cost when compared to UK prices, I would say on average they cost up to 50% more.

I hope this helps.

I believe that you cannot now permanently register a right hand drive car in Turkey

You can bring it in and out for a couple of 6 month periods and that's all

King Arthur,  If you are becoming a resident ,    I believe you can purchase a vehicle in Turkey at normal prices + small% ,   Residence first , buy vehicle second  = problem solved!
