Fire....
« on: December 03, 2014, 07:03:59 AM »
Terrible news. I hope no one has been hurt.

The conspiracy theorist in me is thin king that this is just too convenient for those wanting to redevelop the harbour are. Hope I am wrong.

Yes, this is dreadful and do you know PW? The same thought crossed my mind too.  :(

Fingers crossed we are wrong and that the restaurant owners are able to recoup their losses. It must be devastating for them.

Have to say that was my first reaction too.

Whatever the outcome or the reasons behind it, it is desperately sad for Mehmet and Kitty at Mussakka and, of course, all the other owners and staff at the affected premises.

I'm assuming everyone is insured...? Please God they are all insured
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

Total 100% devastation, 5 business's raised to the ground, looks like a bomb site from Kleo down to the bar with the high chairs ( can't think of its name )

Some very sad looking Turks on the harbour this morning. I just hope they can come back stronger & better than before.....as we all know with the Turks, where there's a will there's a way....I hope they will all be up and running for the coming season...good luck to all.

So its from Kleo right up to Jimmys (Yakamoz)..? That's a huge expanse  :( How dreadful for all the owners and their families.

What heartbreaking news and I feel so sad for all those affected by this terrible fire.  Kalkan has certainly had it's fair share of bad things happening in the last year or so what with the beach avalanche, the dreadful situation with the roads last winter, no utilities, the recent flooding and now this devastating fire!  It always amazes me how the Turks seem to make things right again and their wonderful spirit shines through when bad things happen.  I hope and pray that the businesses involved get all the help they need to rebuild and come back brighter and better than before for next season and I wish them lots of luck and good fortune for the future.

You do indeed wonder in view of the "possible" harbour re-development as to whether the owners will hold off rebuilding until something definite is decided

Cannot see them wanting to rebuild and then be told at a later date that they have to change and potentially rebuild again

Althugh if this land is owned by the Belediye maybe - who knows ?

Whatever happens I wish them luck

How awful for all concerned. Hope they manage to keep their spirits up and get back on track with their much loved business' They certainly deserve some good luck now as they are so friendly, welcoming and truly hard working, proud people.

Looks bad but  as in many instances of fires  most of the damage is iron mongery, wood/plastic/furnishings  etc  so should be able to re build reasonably quickly,  before I get any flames!!  appreciate  cannot see inside the buildings to assess concrete structures etc  , but if  structures are OK it really is a clean up operation  and rebuild of externals /fittings and paint jobs ,   repeat same as others, main thing  no one hurt  and hope they all  have insurance. I spend most of my time down that end   of the town when on holiday,     heart goes out  to  business  owners/renters
