Gyms
« on: May 26, 2014, 11:45:14 PM »
Hello, I was wondering if there are any pay as you go gyms in Kalkan? I wouldn't normally ask such a question as I head off on holidays but I clearly lost my mind recently and signed up for a half marathon. I'd like to try and do some "running" whilst I'm in Kalkan, but think the hills and the heat will prevent me from outdoor jogs!

My BH and son have both joined the gym whilst we've been in Kalkan - there's only one.
http://www.kalkangym.com/
You can join for one week, two, three or a month - prices are on the website.
They have treadmills and its air-conditioned (sometimes..)
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

Thanks all! I'll probably spend most of holiday trying to persuade myself to go and feeling guilty at not going !

My BH is an early riser, so would go first thing whilst I was still asleep. Our son used to go around midday to get out of the fierce August heat. As you know with gyms, its all about routine :)
BH and I go for a daily walk (read..trek :o) whilst we are in Kalkan and often see joggers/runners on our journey. The terrain certainly lends itself to hill training  :)
We did a half marathon a couple of years ago about a month after a Kalkan trip and I found the walking just improved my all round fitness and stamina.
Good luck with your run (and training..)

I made a valiant effort on Saturday evening to go to the gym, sadly they appeared closed at 6.30 rather than the 8-8 they had assured me were the opening hours. I ran up and down some hills for a bit.  :) Monday morning I shall arise with good intentions and wander down again !
