going home
« on: October 04, 2013, 02:15:05 PM »
Well the phone call I was dreading from the insurance company came today. They are picking us up tomorrow to take us to Antalya to meet the escort Doctor who is flying in tomorrow. He will assess Bri fly home to Birmingham with us and arrange for a taxi home to Staffordshire. I queried why Antalya and he said Turkish airlines were the only company able to transport us. I cried with frustration three hour journey to Antalya and then an early flight Sunday morning. Bri says at least he won't be bumping along on his back in an ambulance and if he needs the loo he won't have everyone gawping in the back of the ambulance like last time.
Oh we'll anybody that's seen him walking up and down the Kalkan hills since his stents were fitted won't believe that he's not fit to fly on his own.
So it's farewell to beautiful Kalkan hopefully we will return and enjoy another holiday. It's still my favourite place ever and all the kind thoughts and wishes have really kept me going through some dark times. Thank you.

Safe journey to you both, hope Bri recovers fully soon and is fit enough to be clapping along to "Can You Feel It" when the blue noses come out at St Andrews .

Yes. Have a safe journey home, sounds like you're in good hands and although it's many a year since I flew with Turkish airlines, I remember that they were brilliant to fly with.
Good luck to Brian with his cardiology appointments and treatment in the UK and hope it's not too long before you're both back in Kalkan and having a different holiday than this years.  :)

Safe journey both, we flew back a few weeks ago with Turkish Onur airlines and the staff were lovely. Please let us all know how everything's going back home. I'm sure I speak for all on here we've been with you in thought throughout your ordeal. You certainly are a pair of real troopers!!  Take care both, best of, Clara.

Thank you for all your lovely thoughts. Had a lovely meal at Kosk tonight.

Just perfect. Cried all the way back to Sahane and then got phone call from insurance to say they will pick us up at 1.00 pm tomorrow. Can't believe it our holiday is over we started outwith such hope and alli cando is cry. So selfish especially as Bri still had a few mountains to climb. Hopefully next report more sensible and not quite so full of red wine.

Oh Joycie, I've been glued to your reports and so concerned about not just Bri but you too.
The good thing is you are aware there is a problem and it can be fixed quite quickly once you are back in the UK. How many people are walking around totally unaware of their health problems...? I wish you both a safe return to blighty and please keep us updated during the winter months when it goes incredibly quiet on here....except for a few diehards looking for their daily Kalkan fix
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

Set out for Antalya at 1.45. The driver had got lost. He was a lovely sedate guy and as we drove along the Kash road I remembered an old Turkish
gentleman had fallen asleep on Bris shoulder and I nearly died laughing on the bus between Kalkan and Kas.
The mountain road was magnificent. It looked as though we were going to have a thunderstorm but nothing came of it thank goodness. It was quite a long journey and I thought how horrible it must have been in the ambulance when Bri went last week flat on his back bumping along.
It took just over three hours to reach Antalya. I thought thank goodness we didn't have to spend a lot of time here. McDonalds abounded everywhere an Irish pub etc. and I know my granddaughter would have loved it but I'll pass this time.
The hotel is only 10 mins from the airport but really lovely overlooking the water the magnificent mountains and a sunset to die for.
Knock on the door the doctor had arrived. Bri had define fly had a heart attack and he would refer him to the relevant cardiac depts back home. He would be travelling with us and we had to leave here at 4am to start the first stage of the journey to Istanbul. Didn't see that one coming. Two hours in Istanbul and then onto Birmingham . From hospital car to home. Car still in Sussex so will deal with that later.
So you can see we're still going but a little closer to home thank goodness.
Should have said lovely wedding here. Bride looked beautiful so pleAsed that we could witness it.
