Hello there,

Bit of a sticky topic this one. You might like to check out the discussion thread under 'New Bars and Restaurants'
http://enjoykalkan.com/forum/index.php?topic=10958.0

In summary, because it has had rave reviews on this forum, coupled with a mention in a glossy women's mag, an air of unseemly panic has decended, and desperate scramble for tables has ensued. People have been emailing for reservations months in advance. The upshot is when I tried to book a table on the balcony for Monday, I was told it was booked up for the whole of May. Another EK member, Sandancer, who was doing reports from the balcony table last week, actually witnessed a guy come into the restaurant, and book the balcony table for the whole week. So it looks like both you and I are out of luck.

On the other hand, there are a small number of other tables inside Kucuk Ev which may (or may not) be free. But if all else fails, there are plenty of other wonderful places to eat. If I were you, I would wait until the current hype dies down, and perhaps dine there on your next visit. Hope you have a lovely evening.

Christina, I have 3 numbers for Kucuk Ev  0242 844 28 17, 0535 238 93 24 & 0535 761 07 82. The owner is Ercan& Asuman Yilmas, Ercan speaks perfect English so you won't have any problems. Enjoy it if you get in, we had the table by the window.

00 90 is the international dial code for Turkey, not sure how you put this into a telephone number? I think you replace the first zero in the telephone number with the 00 90  :D

How confusing. And disappointing! When I contacted the restaurant through their Facebook page last week, they said 'hello balcony booked all may sorry thank you everythings'. I'll pop in tomorow to clarify. To be honest, I find all this exhausting and the moment has been lost. I know what, instead, I'll go to to an equally superb little-known place on a back street in town called ...........

I'm sure Small House is lovely but it's just too small! We are going home tomorrow and didn't  try to book because we knew we wouldn't get a table. Every meal we've in Kalkan has been great . Each restaurant tried their best to please the diners.
Tonight we went to an old favourite, Kosk, the food was very good and again very good value.
Kosk is being run by Hussain this year and he is eager to please. It must be difficult to have a successful season with so much competition about.
We found it all a bit stressful also. So many restaurants, so many old friends, so little time!. L

Is the Small House on the recommended list? I'm planning where to take our friends and Janet has nominated Alternatif & Agora, my first choice is going out to Adam's, we had a nice meal at Small House last time so was thinking of going there again but have not seen it mentioned lately. Seeing as Cafe Ev is close to the villa we are staying in I'm pushing for going there for breakfast one morning, Fener is usually our choice for lunch.
