22 days for us.
Incidentally I was looking at Paxos today as a possible future holiday destination. Blimey, you don't get much for your money there, I don't know about restaurants etc but villas and apartments of a similar standard to Kalkan (and in some cases more basic) about twice the price! Anybody been?

Yes! But it was 30 years ago I would expect things have changed significantly since then. The Greek Islands are much of a muchness to me.....I do have a soft spot for Parga and the Pelponnese though.
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

Interesting article on Paxos in today's Mail on Sunday - looks beautiful, but I am smitten with Kalkan!

@ Irene - yes, it was the article in Mail on Sunday that made me look at Paxos  :)
We went to Santorini in 2009 and it wasn't a patch on Kalkan, managed to find a couple of nice restaurants near to our hotel but the food in most of the tavernas was disappointing.

We went to Paxos about 10 years ago, and we had a lovely time.  A really pretty island, very laid back, easy to get around.  I think because you have to get their by ferry from Corfu it  managed to retain its charm. The beach at anti-Paxos was stunning. It wasn't the cheapest of places and property was very expensive. I thought the standard of rented villa/apartments much higher in Kalkan in comparison.

Friends of ours who also love Kalkan have tried Greek Islands as an alternative a couple of times and have said that for the same quality of accommodation you pay twice as much as Kalkan.....so they have given up looking now and are hoping to buy in Kalkan very soon!

Hi Babs
I've had a look at Parga and it does look very similar to Kalkan, I'm impressed, definitely a contender!
The thing that puts me off Paxos is that it looks like you would need to hire a car and OH isn't keen on driving abroad (he did in his youth but likes to take it easy now!)

We first found Kalkan becuase we were looking for somewhere like Parga. They are very similar in that the activity is set on a hillside overlooking a harbour. The beach is beautiful (not the one in the harbour, but over the hill...) Nice shops and restaurants set amongst cobbled streets.....sound familiar?

Could well be a contender for Summer 2014!
