It is I, One Sheet

We decided to go for a cheapy meal this evening. We went to the Kalkan Kebab restaurant.

The only positive was the food. This was very good. Simply presented but tasty.

Now the bad. The service was appalling. We were seated straight away but waited what seemed like an eternity to get any sort of service at all. The restaurant didn't seem to have any A/C and relied on huge fans to cool the place down. We waited and waited and waited some more before we got someone to take the drinks order. We ordered our food at the same time. Another couple sat at the table next to us. Their drinks arrived before ours even though we had been seated at our table for 15 mins or so - in high temperatures!! 

After the meal, we waited ages before we could attract anyone's eye to ask for the bill.

All in all, a very poor experience

Oh dear, what a shame. Just goes to show that although the food can be excellent, it's the overall experience that counts when you eat out.
Hope you have a better experience at your next restaurant. Did you get a free toothbrush and ladybird fridge magnet?
We went there for the first time in April and had a decent night, food and service both good and very well looked after, Tony the lovely greeter even paid for our starters as a treat.
I feel sorry that you've had a rotten time.

We also had a similar experience to Lizilu when eating in Kalkan Kebap in April.  Food very good and service from Tony excellent, sorry to hear he has moved on.

FWIW, have eaten there 3x, service slow but not as bad as One Sheet's experience.  However, they do need better organization and oversight if they want to keep their customers.
