Things you're looking forward to.....

For those of us returning this summer season there are so many things we dream about and look forward to when we return......

Here's our list......

1. Stopping off at the transport cafe with the swimming pool ordering a large efes, lighting a cigarette, taking a deep breath and thinking.. WE'VE ARRIVED!!!

2. Asking the driver to stop when Kalkan comes into view from the D400. Day or night getting out of the car to soak up the view and take the customary photo's.

3. Sleeping the first night with the aircon on all night and waking up cold thinking "it's not as hot this year", before going onto the balcony to be overwhelmed by the early morning heat!!

4. A bridge over the D400 from Kiziltas... woohoo!!

5. First morning walk into the village meeting all the friendly dogs and being relieved they are still there safe and well.

6. First breakast consisting of eggs menemen in the Merkez.

7. late afternoon drinks at the fener watching the gulets come in.

8. Walking along Kalamar Rd to visit Mustapha at Cafe Vita and having a good catch up with him whilst ordering our first shrimp stew of the holiday.

9. Doing the 'bread and wine' run before it gets too hot. Checking out which supermarket has the best wine deals!!

10. This year we are looking forward to having a curry!!! Something which has been discussed many many times on here.... Curry in Kalkan.... I'm in heaven!!!

We have so many more thingsa to look forward to this year......... far too many to list them all!!

We are looking forward to everything. It is our first time in Kalkan and we are all so excited. 4 weeks to go and counting . Could you answer me a quick question please we do not arrive until late Saturday night will there be a supermarket open?

Hi,
It would depend upon what time you arrive. There are several small supermarkets in Kalkan. They usually stay open unti about 10pm, some a little later. if you are later arriving than 10pm it is worth walking into the village where you will still have oportunity to eat out at one of the many great restaurants!! Have a great time!

Look forward to... being back by the pool at the Pirat, ipod on and looking out at the harbour

...seeing all the street dogs and cats again

....seeing all the familiar faces in shops and restaurants

....mojitos at Kleo bar

....lunch at Café Leon

....beautiful food on a roof top terrace

Most of the supermarkets are open until 12....and we were able to buy alcohol after 10pm contrary to the new law. We couldn't however get BH's final Efes at the petrol station stop....so the application appears patchy.

The best wine deals are at Lucky Supermarket opposite the Taxi Rank - limited choice but they sell my new favourite the Majestik Sauvignon Blanc.
