Demonstrations
« on: June 05, 2013, 05:27:38 PM »
Michelle of Newcastle has mentioned ibn another post the dreaded word "demonstrations".  Is this anything to do with the unrest in the large cities in Turkey?  I can't bear the idea of our lovely Kalkan having problems.

We have had a couple of low key, peaceful demos.  Nothing to worry about.

Don't think you will get much police brutality in Kalkan as it doesn't have a police force as it's too under populated to have one, just jandarma!

Kalkan is certainly as calm, peaceful ad beautiful as ever.
At the recent solidarity meeting in the town there was no hint of anything violent or sinister by the people who attended or the authorities.
You will be very safe and happy coming to Kalkan.............

It's the only demonstration I've seen where they offer food and drink to passers by.....we asked if we could sign something in support but there wasn't anything, sadly. I think locals here just want to show their fellow countrymen they are with them.....even though they are many miles away from the trouble.
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

Hi just thought would mention the demonstration that was over from the samira has ended. It was totally peaceful though and a few banging of tons and speaking how they feel which I actually agree with. One night they was even singing with a guitar so was Def all ok. I can see how they want to support Istanbul and seems like it's holy ground they want to build on too. Just thought would rest your minds all is ok x

There have been interesting discussions on the radio and apparently there are more journalists locked up in Turkey than anywhere else in the world, beware the velvet covered fists.

Hi- I heard via trip advisor that there was a demonstration in Kas last night.

Also the same poster has said that the Kas Belidye  have banne alcohol sales on beaches.

Anyone here heard the same? And could that happen in Kalkan?

Have just read the TripAdvisor reports re. Kas :( :( :(   If the facts reported are 100% accurate, it will badly affect all the beach clubs, Kalkan next ??? ??? ???
