What to do?
« on: July 15, 2013, 09:45:53 AM »
Hi
New to Kalkan and having great time, but problem with return day. We have to leave our villa at noon but do not leave for the airport until 5 pm. What to do? Where to go? There are 6 of us, 2 adults and 4 teenagers. Wondered if there might be a hotel where we can have lunch and swim. Any suggestions gratefully accepted.

Hi Lerejen,

How about a beach club? Palm Beach does great lunches and they have proper showers up in the toilet block so you can freshen up before leaving  :)

Hi, glad to see you are enjoying your holiday. We have had this problem before but it was in kas, not Kalkan. Luckily we had a hotel right next to the villa and we negotiated a day rate for a room which entitled us to use all the facilities and have somewhere to freshen up too.
Providing the hotels in Kalkan have a vacant room, I can't see why you couldn't do this? Hope you get it sorted and have a great time.  :)

We faced this last year and did the following:

- packed and got out earlier at 10am to make the most of the day

- quick breakfast at Cafe Ev (they held our cases)

- KALAMAR Beach Club picked us up and we spent the rest of the day there and they dropped us back to Cafe Ev

- Don't forget you may need your beach towels at the Beach Club if you have relied on the ones provided by your Villa?

Nothing worse than hanging around and wasting a Kalkan day!!

Another suggestion might be to check out at 12noon, have lunch, a swim in their infinity pool and a few leisurely hours of R & R up at the Mediteran Hotel. I am sure they will allow you to shower / change for the price of a lunch?

Fantastic views, amazing food, lovely people - what a final memory that would be of your stay in Kalkan!!

Boy, I am there already!!

Good to see you back Antler! We always spend our last day at the Mahal, having negotiated to leave our luggage at the hotel/villa until we leave. You get a great lunch, really comfortable sun beds and the view! Mind you, they only have cold showers down by the water in the open air.

Have you asked your villa/apartment owners if you can stay longer? We always allow our guests to stay longer if we don't have a change over that day.

I'm assuming you have already enquired with your villa owners about staying past 12 noon. Try Nur Hotel, I think they do day rates. Depending where your villa is, Allegra Hotel in Komurluk also used to do day rates so if you're over that side it might be better placed. Beach Clubs are a great idea, but as they don't provide towels this may mean packing a load of wet ones when it's time to leave...or leaving them behind? You can ask for them to be donated to KAPSA as they can be used in their work caring for the street animals.
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

For anyone with a rental car driving themselves back to DLM, the best idea is to stop in the small yacht port town of Gocek. Very pleasant to walk around, have lunch, have a look at the yacht harbor.  If you are being driven, maybe for the price of a lunch or a little extra, your driver would oblige you by stopping off there for a hour or so.
