Historic Photos of Kalkan
« on: March 08, 2013, 02:13:47 PM »
There are hundreds of members on this forum who, despite probably been ardent Kalkanites, would love to see what Kalkan used to look like before the British invasion. The town has changed markedly in the past twenty five years or so since the mainstream tourist started coming here so please could the forum make available a folder or subject area where members' photos could be placed. I have read in recent days on facebook how people would love to place their photographs but cannot find a way of doing so. I know that I would personally be very interested in seeing how much our beautiful adopted home has changed through the years.

Thanks  :D

There is a section in the Gallery on this forum showing some older photos of Kalkan (Kalkan Past) but it would be great to see this expanded, especially by those who came to Kalkan a long time ago.   Even since I first came in 1998 it has expanded greatly.  So everyone start looking through your old photos please.   Anyone out there who has turned their original photos into a digital form which can be downloaded?

I've just loaded some images from 1992 into the Kalkan past gallery.

Thank you for those Hobbo - they are a real reminder of how much Kalkan has grown over the years.   I hope other forum members are now encouraged to share their photos of Kalkan past.

Hobo, thank you. This is a terrific start.

I'm sure there's dozens of you out there who can lay claim to be one of the first to visit beautiful Kalkan. So come on, dig out those old pix and get scanning! We're all very interested.

Loving this idea. Pity I have nothing to contribute as;
a) I've only been coming since 2005, (and it's changed since then)
b) Don't take photo's

Never mind, I'll look forward to others posting
 ;)
I'll get me coat!! ;-).....Bang on!

We started going to Kalkan in 2000 and it certainly has grown.  No photos left, but I remember that the Mina hotel (now Emin apartments) was the highest property in those days.  There was a little grass path straight down from there direct to the car park with virtually nothing in between.   ;D ;D ;D
